CBD Oil—What It Is and Where It’s Legal

There is a lot of misinformation out there on CBD oil and where it is legal. Some thinl it’s from the same plant as regular marijuana, while others believe it’s from an entirely different plant. Some think CBD oil isn’t as helpful as the whole marijuana plant, while others enjoy the benefits without the psychoactive properties. Hopefully this guide will dispel some of the confusion and help you determine whether or not CBD can be an option for you. Below we will explore what CBD oil is, what it’s used for, and where you can use it.
What is CBD Oil?
CBD stands for Cannabidiol. It’s one of the compounds found in the cannabis plant. It is extracted from the plant in the form of an oil, which is why it’s called CBD oil. CBD doesn’t have hallucinogenic or psychoactive properties, so it doesn’t contribute to the “high” feeling people get when smoking cannabis leaves. Although CBD oil doesn’t contain much, if any, THC, it can be derived from the same cannabis plant THC is extracted from. Since the law views all cannabis products as equal, CBD largely is grouped together with other cannabis laws at the local and state levels. Even though some CBD oil is extracted from hemp plants, which inherently contain very little THC or none at all, laws in most states aren’t advanced enough to discern between the two varieties. We’ll expand on CBD oil and the law in a later section.
What is CBD Oil Used For?
Users of CBD oil have benefitted in many ways from ingesting this compound over the years. Some tout relief in inflammation, chronic pain, and even arthritis. Most miraculously, some patients have used CBD oil to treat symptoms of epilepsy and have had tremendous improvements in their condition compared with other medications on the market. In fact, enough high-quality studies have been performed on the effects of CBD oil as it relates to epilepsy that the FDA approved a CBD-based medication for general use just this year. Not enough evidence has been collected for the FDA to confirm the other benefits of CBD oil. However, with more studies being performed on
